Business Growing Faster than Expected
By Tim Bucey

02-26-06 - As new owners of CFA Networks, the trio of Cedarville University graduates had plans for how to grow the business.

What they did not realize is how fast it would happen.

The number of employees has doubled since September, with more expected to be added. Their building at 2237 Grube Street is for sale. It’s too small.

Their January growth was up 100 percent over January 2005 when they started as IT Innovations.

“We had an aggressive business plan and that outpaced our business plan,” said Craig Terrell, one of the owners.

Terrell and Kevin Schleinitz started the company while working other jobs. Todd Roberts, a Southeastern High school graduate, was brought in later as the third co-owner.

Purchasing CFA Networks in September provided instant growth and allowed them to devote full time to the business. They kept the CFA name.

CFA’s owners say they are committed to Springfield and Clark County.

Talking over the Internet

One of CFA Networks’ biggest growth areas is Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Instead of long distance charges, businesses with multiple locations can make free VoIP calls through the internet.

A bank, for example, could use the system to call its branch offices.

CFA has the Springfield, Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati markets for the Altigen VoIP phone system.

Expensive for small offices, CFA plans to offer Grouplink in which small offices can share the equipment. Ten to 15 small offices could use the Altigen equipment that would be hosted by CFA.
